Current Projects

Castle Hill Project

The project is to open up the Castle hill situated behind the Seatown and bring it back into a useful asset for locals and visitors alike. In the last few years the hill has been totally overgrown by gorse making it inaccessible and unused. The project is to clear the upper part of the hill of gorse and re-instate the old paths leading up both sides and around the top. All the work is being done under the guidance of Historic Scotland as it is a scheduled monument site.

It is hoped that permission will also be given for seating and picnic tables to allow people to admire the magnificent views and for the crown to once again have its flagpole to fly the Royal Burgh flag.

This project was part-financed by the scottish goverment and the european community moray leader 2007-2017 programme.
